Because although it is not an ancient practice, its connection with the universe is older than the human beings who shaped it. Its practice revels the essence of being, unmasks our egos and brings us together in a creative game of balance and freedom. The idea of the embrace, of embracing and being embraced, responds to that very human and primordial need. That of be welcomed in a safe space, of mutual care and acceptance. Furthermore, it is an invitation to become aware of oneself, of the other and of others, of time and space. It also offers us a constant reminder to maintain balance, awareness and stillness. A stillness that goes beyond staying still. |

And many times, it challenges us by confronting our ego. Inviting us to take off our armor because it becomes evident. And to let ourselves appear as we are. And in this sense, Tango is also a mirror, where we can look at ourselves, get to know ourselves and realize how we use to behave and how we relate to others. Because maintaining balance, awareness and stillness in solitude is a possible and perhaps easier path. We dance Tango because the real challenge is to do it in a space of shared freedom. |

Tango is in its historical youth and in full evolution. During this natural and living process, its essence and primordial purity is contaminated and crossed by the historical and cultural development in which it passes. As such, that it sometimes loses clarity in its philosophical definition. As we do not usually work on a deep understanding, we also do not know how to distinguish good information from bad. So, the concepts get confused or become not congruent with what actually happens to us in the practice of dance.
Then, Tango loses meaning for us, and:

At some point, it loses content and density, leaving only an external appearance. An appearance that has been worked on a lot in recent decades to respond to commercialization, standardization and competition purposes.
And although, thanks to this, the sophistication of a very precise, exhaustive and efficient movement technique has evolved, sometimes it also leads to an effective dance, but lacking any inspiration. At the same time,
Tango can be an instrument of transformation for human beings and society. |

Finding stillness and maintaining presence in a group class or milonga can be difficult. Because, we are faced with an excess of stimuli just to start. Then,

When I met my Masters, the Dinzels, I took advantage of every trip to my hometown to be in their studio every day, all day long. In addition to the Master's lessons, there, I had the chance to dance for hours with more experienced bodies. Every time coming back to Italy, I felt my body, mind and spirit were totally in tune. Little by little, I noticed how I was losing that quality, either because of the passage of time or because of the number of out-of-tune hugs I had to suffer. But every year that passed, my tuning lasted longer, until at some point, I learned to tune myself. And later, I learned to tune others. |
